Fullmetal Alchemist
Chapter Two
She felt no impact. but she couldn't see what was happening... or what had happened since her eyes were had closed. She could hear herself sobbing. He had dented the wall when some force flung him away from her. Judging from that, it must have been painful. He seemed to have extreme amounts of strength and weight. She continued to wait with her eyes closed. She was too much of a coward to witness her own death. Speaking of of death, was she already dead? Was he kind enough to make it quick and painless? She was afraid to open her eyes, unsure of what she would see. Amelia didn't know what death was like. She could be either. Amelia slowly took her arms away from frightened her eyes to only stare into the handsome face of the man who had just claimed he was going to kill her. His eyes sent an uncomfortable jolt through her as he crouched in front of her, staring right back, void of emotion. He narrowed his eyes.
Look at you, all fancy and well taken care of. his voice was deep, a purr. It was beautiful... but full of hate. While you were living a life of luxury above me, I was down here in the freezing cold. Trapped. His hands reached so his slender fingers could wrap around her soft throat, but he didn't squeeze enough to block her air. Envy could feel each of the girl's trembles as if he was shaking himself. Look at how you tremble. Pathetic. he snorted and glared into her permanently horrified eyes as she tried to look away. It was too hard. They held her in some kind of trance. It was an empty, endless pit of a dark violet. It grabbed at her. She was falling... falling. She couldn't read his eyes, couldn't tell what he was feeling or thinking; it made panic surge through her. She didn't know what to except. Seconds seemed to tick like minutes, and minutes like hours as she waited for him to do something. To hurt her or to kill her, anything. His slender fingers just held onto her neck, gripping softly but still threatening.
You're not the only one who has been trapped. she tried to get her voice straight but it was an intimidated whisper, her gaze saddened but still afraid. Her eyebrows shot up and eyes widened slightly at his amused expression and as his hands retreated from her neck.
I'm not surprised. They--we--want you. and he grinned as she flinched, more horror-struck if possible. He used a thin finger to lift her chin up. You really are such a big girl now. he purred, a hand slid down her side. You have curves. a smirk lit up his features.
I-I-I-I-- She looked at him with wide eyes as his hand slipped up her shirt. Face turning a nice shade of red while her trembling grew more violent. She tried slapping at him but he just grinned, unaffected by her attempts to stop him.
So soft... he leaned in and breathed in her scent. Must have to beat the boys off. he chuckled. What was he doing? She was frozen now, as his hand slipped it's way up her stomach. Now it seemed to slither, like a snake.
A blood-curdling scream erupted from her throat as the head of a snake peaked out of the top of her shirt, looking like it was ready to strike. Her hands were a flurry of slaps as she sobbed out, tears streaking down her cheeks..
GET OUT!! GET OUT!!! she screeched and closed her eyes, still slapping as the snake changed into a hand and was removed from her shirt.
I thought you liked snakes, sweetheart, He hissed the endearing term, a smirk still played on his face as he shoved away from her. Pitiful little coward.. he let out a sigh but the smirk never left his face.
Who are you!? she cried, she was too scared to look at him so she had took to keeping them closed again.
You should know, he repeated, reply short as a grunt escaped his lips. I guess they did wipe your memory. Clean off, he pouted and leaned back, sitting on the cold floor in front of her shivering form that was sort of curled up in a defensive manner, still upright.
I knew it. she murmured and held herself. She wanted to stand up and run out of there but she knew he'd catch her and she didn't want to know what he'd do. She had seen something in the pit of amethyst; death. a thirst for vengeance, hate, anger, but they were so beautiful. His eyes that had held her, eyes she wanted to look into again. She fought back her fear to open them, stopping green meeting with violet.
Hmm? he raised a perfect brow at her.
I knew that...something happened.. I can't remember anything.. she mumbled. She could almost feel something tugging her at the back of her mind.
I can't imagine why, she couldn't tell if this was sarcastic for the smirk he had been wearing was gone. His expression was plain again, eyes still slightly narrowed.
Who are you? she repeated but her voice had a firmness to it, her eyes were dry now.
I should be asking that, what the fuck happened to you? You were never such a coward..
You knew me?
I guess you could say that, he smirked, and it bugged her.
Tell me! She gasped, grabbing onto his shoulders and he leaned back, eyes widened by her sudden forcefulness.
Who was I!? What happened to me!?
He resumed smirking as he pushed her away roughly, making her hit the wall.
No, he was sitting cross-legged now, elbows on his knee and chin resting on his palms. Looking at her playfully. You can't even remember by name, why should I tell you?
I... she shut her mouth, a large frown accenting her pink lips. Her bottom lip trembled and her eyes were filled to the brim with tears..
Now you're going to cry!? the fact that she was going to cry seemed to amuse him tot he point of laughter. I've never met someone so patheticWait. he paused. Maybe O-chibi-san.
I-I'm not pathetic! her voice shook as she blinked back her tears.
Should I help you remember then? amusement had left his features in an instant, he looked composed and seductive as he leaned forward. His lips turning upwards. This should give it a nice little kick. he whispered.
...
She was still, unable to move her head because she was against the metal wall and her chin was firmly held. She didn't know whether he was actually going to kiss her. Was he planning to lure her into some kind of trap? Was he going to snap her neck? She didn't know whether to close her eyes or keep them open. He continued to lean in, eyes half lidded as they stared into hers. Searching, when he was an inch away he tilted his head and moved in for the kill but right when their lips were about to touch it was interrupted. Her eyes were open only a sliver and her cheeks were red. Envy... she whispered. They were less than an inch apart. She could almost feel him. Her mouth was open slightly. She could taste his intoxicating breath.
Thaaaat's it.. he chuckled quietly and joined his pale lips to her redder version. He watched through half lidded eyes the serious of expression cross her face. Seduced, to shock, to fear, to shock again and then to fear. Why fear? Didn't humans do these things regularly? Didn't they like them? Envy didn't know and he didn't care. It was just the exact opposite emotion he had wanted her to feelwhich was a first.
Their lips were joined for what seemed to be like minutes, when he pulled away, gaining a few inches worth of distance between them. Her breath was short already and her mind was spinning from just the simple press of lips.
For an extra reward... he tilted his head and smiled, it was a smile that made her heart churn. How could anyone trust a smile like that? She wanted to but no one in their right mind would. It made her scared and she couldn't figure out why. The name had come to her out of nowhere with a flash of his face. A face that she was sure rarely ever smile.
Wh-What?
Red water... he repeated and watched her face for a sign of reaction.
Red.... Water... she mumbled, it rolled off her tongue like she had said it before. Many times before. She fell into darkness and something hit her rather painfully but it hadn't been a physical blow. Her head ached and she fell over, grabbing it, crying out.
MAKE IT STOP!!
The aching had grown to an unbearable throbbing; A screaming inside her head as Envy watched, amusement dancing in his eyes.
...Where was this?
Mommy, I don't want to.. came a tiny whine. A little girl in an adorable blue dress, brown hair cropped, green eyes swimming with tears. No older than four. Mommy, please... it hurts... but her please went to deaf ears. A woman grabbed her, waist-length hair in a long braid as she rocked her child, trying to comfort her.
My darling, it's okay. It's only for a while. she wiped her child's tears away.
Why mommy? It hurts... she sobbed but the face-less mother continued to rock and comfort, walking toward a cup.
You know I love you, right Mia? she smiled softly, one she thought she could trust. Mommy loves you. It's good for you.
B-But it hurts.
It's only for a little while.. she whispered, sitting the child on the table and handing her a large class a scary looking water. Red. It had looked yummy at first.
Go ahead, drink it, drink it for mommy.. the older woman urged her on, patting her back. Mommy will sing for you.
The woman opened her mouth, letting a lullaby slip through. A song that once held comfort but was now haunting. The little girl tipped back the cup and let the red water slip down her throat. It was hard to keep drinking with her temperature fluctuating and stomach convulsing but she did it for her mother. She kept drinking until the last drop, the cup slipping form her hands and shattering on the floor as the girl rolled up into a ball and shook with a terrifying violence. Her body felt like it was sinking in itself. The little girl was screaming and crying in pain that a little girl shouldn't know surged through her body. The lullaby only ceasing for the mother to whisper in comfort.
Mommy loves you, it's for your own good..
The memory was cloudy. The mother had been faceless and the words to the song escaped her. She stared into Envy's empty eyes as it replayed. She screamed and left in a blur. Rushing out of the metal room, leaving a grinning Envy as she closed the alchemic door and ran back up the stairs, tripping and falling as she closed the basement door. The light of the living room blinding her as she curled up on the floor, shaking. She was so scared. She didn't understand. The mother had said she loved her child, yet how could she make her drink such a liquid. Amelia could feel a shadow of the pain in her own stomach, the haunting lullaby playing in her head as she passed out, falling into a dreamless blackness.
She was grateful.
